Madesimo is famous for its slopes, which in winter attract skiers from Italy and Switzerland, but not only. A unique natural landscape destination for hikers and mountain bikers, Madesimo integrates sport and wellness, culture and gastronomy, confirming itself as an ideal destination also for mountain lovers in summer.
Winter
Skiing
Skiing in Madesimo is the ideal winter activity, thanks to the Valchiavenna Ski Area, which offers 11 lifts and 34 pistes, covering 40 km. The season runs from the end of November to spring, with pistes, ski schools and numerous mountain huts. Val di Lei and Canalone are accessible thanks to the new lifts. The ski area covers three municipalities: Madesimo, Campodolcino and Piuro, with connected lifts and a single tariff. A true paradise for skiers and snowboarders.
Snowboarding
Madesimo is perfect for snowboarders of all levels, with slopes suitable for beginners and experts alike. The Valchiavenna Ski Area offers easy and advanced (black) runs, with modern facilities and easy boarding. The Madepark, the town's snowpark, is equipped with boxes, kickers and rails. It is also possible to rent snowboards and equipment in the local shops. Madesimo offers endless opportunities for snowboarders!
Snowmobiles
In Madesimo, there are 70 km of snowmobile trails, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes such as Lake Nero dello Spadolazzo and the Spluga Pass. The excursions, organised by Team Adventure Madesimo, offer a unique experience among snow-covered forests, frozen streams and up and down slopes, with expert guides ensuring safety. Suitable for families, couples and groups, the excursions also allow participants to drive, provided they have a type B driving licence.
Skating
Over the Christmas period, the Madesimo Sports Centre hosts an indoor ice skating rink, suitable for all ages. The Palaghiaccio, which is modern and conforms to international standards, offers skate hire, beginners' lessons and figure skating courses. There is also an indoor hockey rink and dedicated areas for children. An ideal activity for families who want to have fun together in a safe and well-equipped environment.
Fatbike
In winter, it is possible to explore Valle Spluga on fat-bikes, bikes with wide tyres suitable for riding through snow and ice. In Madesimo and the surrounding area, there are marked routes that cross the valley floor and the Andossi plateau, as well as free itineraries in Isola and Montespluga. A great way to enjoy nature and stay active even at high altitudes during the winter season.
Children
The Larici Baby Park, located at the arrival point of the Larici gondola lift in Madesimo, is designed for children up to 10 years old, offering a safe area for skiing, learning to ski and having fun in the snow. It has a conveyor belt, areas for skis, snowboards, bobsleighs and toboggans. The park is perfect for winter fun for the little ones, with nearby refreshment options for a break. An excellent family destination in the Valchiavenna Ski Area.
Summer
Riding school
The Madesimo riding school, located in Zerbi, offers wonderful horse riding for children and adults during the summer. Mountain Man Ranch instructors organise excursions in the surrounding area and on the Andossi plateau, suitable for beginners and experts. It is also possible to take riding lessons to learn how to ride. A perfect way to explore nature on horseback and immerse yourself in the beauty of the mountains.
Golf
In Madesimo, at an altitude of 1600 metres, there is a regulation golf course that becomes a ski slope in winter, respecting the surrounding alpine environment. The Madesimo Golf Club offers a 6-hole course, a putting green, a bunker and a large driving range with covered and uncovered stations. From June to September, in addition to golf, events, competitions and beginners' courses are organised. This is complemented by a characteristic wooden clubhouse.
Madebike Park
The Madebike Park in Madesimo, one of the best-loved in Lombardy, is ideal for bikers seeking strong emotions, with adrenaline-fuelled descents and technical trails in the woods. Open since 2011, it offers downhill trails for all levels, from beginners to experts, accessible via the Larici cableway. In the village, there is also a pump track for training. On 29 June 2024, the opening of the season will include a free gondola lift for everyone. A true paradise for mountain bikers!
MTB and Electric Bike
Madesimo has become an ideal cycling destination, offering numerous mountain bike and electric bike (e-MTB) trails suitable for all levels. From beginner trails to more challenging circuits, there is room for every type of biker. Bike tour enthusiasts can explore scenic e-bike routes, enjoying the alpine nature without too much effort. The area, including the famous Valtellina and Valchiavenna, is perfect for mountain bike tours.
Food and wine
Madesimo is a land of flavours and taste. From the peasant kitchen comes a wine and food tradition with tastings, starred restaurants and local recipes. Locally sourced ingredients and a short supply chain, and a mix of innovation and tradition characterise Madesimo's culinary offer, which includes typical dishes from Valtellina and Valchiavenna and creations by international chefs.
SplugaPark Adventure
SplugaPark Adventure offers aerial courses for all ages, from 3 years of age, with courses reaching heights of up to 10 metres.
